A California woman was arrested on murder charges for allegedly killing her baby shortly after giving birth on Sunday.
Ventura County prosecutors said Marisol Flores, 30, gave birth at a homeless encampment in Oxnard. The following day, witnesses reported seeing Flores — who did not appear to be pregnant and was without her newborn.
According to KTTV, paramedics were eventually called to the encampment, where they discovered a deceased baby boy with a suspicious injury. Paramedics reported the injury to police who were also a the scene.
Prosecutors said Flores’ newborn son sustained blunt force trauma. She was arrested in connection with her baby’s death after being hospitalized.
Flores is charged with murder and assault on a child causing death. Her bail was set at $500,000.
