1 Dead, 5 Wounded in Indiana Waffle House Shooting – Crime Online

A woman is dead and five other people hospitalized after an early morning shooting at an Indianapolis Waffle House.

Indianapolis police say a altercation between two groups of people escalated into gunfire, and they recovered two guns — one at the scene and another in a vehicle at a hospital, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Police found five gunshot victims at the scene when they arrived just after 12:30 a.m. Monday. One of the victims, a woman in critical condition, died at the hospital, and four others — three men and a woman — were in stable condition.

The sixth shooting victim, a man in critical condition, either drove himself to the hospital or had someone else drive him, WXIN reported.

Police the altercation took place inside and outside the restaurant, and a large number of people were in the area at the time.

“We have had numerous people that stuck around and are acting as witnesses. But we also believe there were several that were either at the Speedway gas station behind us or at the Waffle House that left the scene prior to our arrival,” Indianapolis Metro Police Department Capt. Don Weilhammer said. “We’re hoping they’ll be willing to come forward and give us information.”

No arrests have been announced.

A Waffle House spokesperson said the company is fully cooperating with the investigation and referred all questions to police.
