SALINA, Kan. (TCD) — A 13-year-old girl was taken into custody last weekend after her father reportedly caught her trying to kill him while he slept.
According to KWCH-TV, early in the morning on Saturday, Nov. 25, Salina Police Department officers responded to a home on Village Lane for a report of an attempted murder. The 13-year-old reportedly entered her parents’ room armed with a pillow and a knife, then allegedly tried to smother her father.
KSNW-TV reports the man woke up the first time his daughter allegedly put the pillow over his face. She ran into a closet and hid until he went back to sleep. She reportedly repeated the action and her father got up. He looked through security camera footage and reportedly saw the girl walk into the room and attempt to smother him.
The girl reportedly told police she wanted to kill her parents.
Salina Police arrested the teen, whose name was not released, on two counts of attempted first-degree murder. She was booked into a juvenile detention facility.
