GRAYSON, Ga. (TCD) — Police recently released the identity of an 18-year-old mother who was found shot to death at a house party last month.
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, on Dec. 29 shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to a home on Chance Lane to a report of a person shot and “discovered what appeared to be a house party.” They cleared the residence and found the victim, who was later identified as Shania Green.
Officers told WANF-TV Green suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the “head area.” Green, who reportedly turned 18 years old in November, was discovered on the back patio of the home.
Green’s aunt, Sade Long, wrote on a GoFundMe page that Green was hit by a stray bullet “while enjoying herself at a house party down the road from her home.”
Long described Green as a “wonderful daughter, mother, sister, granddaughter, and niece who touched the lives of everyone around her” who was “navigating life with grace, compassion, and kindness.”
She leaves behind a 7-month-old son.
Police have not named any suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
