Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 28-year-old pregnant Ohio woman whose body was found in a plastic tote along a roadway in Jackson Township earlier this month.
Neither James Rothenbusch nor Rick Sheppard were charged directly with the death of Brittany Fuhr-Storms, although the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the pair had been under investigation by the department for some time and they allegedly admitted that Fuhr-Storms died at their home.
The pair reportedly said that they kept the woman’s body at the home for nearly a week before dumping it.
“The fact of the matter is, these gentlemen have some guys in custody that were there at the time she died,” sheriff’s office Chief of Staff Jeremy Roy said at a news conference. “That’s a problem. They don’t have any 911 calls, they don’t have anybody going for help. That’s an issue.”
Police said the tote’s lid was screwed down and the body was wrapped in tarps and towels. The suspects said they left Fuhr-Storms’ body in the shower before sealing it into the tote and dropping it along side of a road.
Both men were charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Rothenbusch also faces charges of corrupting another with drugs, trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, failure to report crime or death, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said more charges could be forthcoming.
