The Emporia Police Department in Kansas has launched an investigation into the disappearance of Rebecca Rauber, a 28-year-old teacher who vanished Friday.
Rauber was last seen Friday night, as she left the Town Royal tavern, at 405 Commercial Street. Emporia Police Sgt. Marcial Hernandez stated that she arrived at the tavern at around 11 p.m., according to KVOE News.
She left after a possible dispute with a friend. Surveillance footage later captured Rauber on West Fifth Avenue, on foot, at around 11:37 p.m., according to Emporia police.
The Bullet reported that, according to family members and police, she left the establishment alone, without her vehicle or personal belongings.
“Officers began searching for Rebecca immediately and utilized business surveillance cameras in the area,” EPD Investigations Captain Lisa Hayes said, according to The Emporia Gazette.
“Rebecca was observed walking alone westbound on West 5th Avenue. Video footage from a residence shows Rebecca walking north on Neosho Street from West 5th Avenue at approximately 11:37 p.m. on Friday, January 22.”
Rauber is described as standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair with blonde highlights.
She was last seen wearing a dark flannel top, a white undershirt (featuring an unidentified pattern), dark-colored pants and black shoes.
Hernandez is asking people and businesses in the area to look over security footage, particularly between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.
According to Emporia Public Schools, Rauber currently serves as a second-grade teacher at Riverside Elementary School.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding Rauber or her whereabouts to contact the Emporia Police Department at 620-343-4225 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 785-296-4017.
