Two people were shot dead in a Florida office building Monday afternoon, and police later chased the suspect into a car crash and found them dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Boynton Beach Police said they were called at about 4 p.m. for the shooting and found two people “suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.” Multiple schools and businesses in the area were put on lockdown.
The suspect was almost immediately identified, and shortly afterward, someone called in about a “suspicious vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle.”
Police located that vehicle and unsuccessfully attempted “a high-risk traffic stop.” The suspect sped away with officers in pursuit until he crashed.
“At that point, the suspect was found with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound,” police said.
After the suspect was found dead, lockdowns were lifted.
Police provided no further information about the victims, suspect, or the incident itself.
“The investigation is still ongoing; however, we do know both the suspect and the victims knew each other,” said Boynton Beach Police Chief Joe DeGiulio, according to WPBF.
DeGiulio said that investigators believe the suspect shot himself while he was driving and crashed after the shot.
