Four people — three of them children — were shot dead at a children’s birthday party in Stockton, California, early Saturday evening.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said that 11 people were wounded in the shooting. The four dead were 8, 9, 14, and 21.
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee said in a Facebook post that the shooting took place “at a child’s birthday party.”
The Sacramento Bee said the incident took place just before 6 p.m. at a banquet hall called the Monkey Space, formerly home to a children’s theater company.
Police have so far not identified any suspects in the shooting, but Mayor Christina Fugazi told KTXL the shooting was “domestic terrorism” and “gang violence.” She did not provide any information to back up that claim, and police have not said that to be the case.
She also said that a “bounty” on the suspect is $25,000.
Police say they aren’t sure if they are looking for one suspect or multiple suspects, but that “detectives are actively working on suspect descriptions and moving toward identifying and locating the individuals responsible for this horrific act.”
They have asked for information and/or video footage from the event to help them find those responsible.
