Georgia authorities are investigating after a 4-year-old boy died on Sunday as an apparent result of being left in a hot car.

The Metter Advertiser reported that Karmen Williams was found deceased in the passenger area of a car parked at the Summer Trace Apartment Complex in Metter. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Foul play is not suspected in Williams’ death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation told WJCL that an autopsy is pending.

Williams is reportedly the eighth hot-car death this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 39 children died in hot cars in 2024.
