The parents and grandmother of a 7-year-old boy were arrested this week after the child was found dead inside a freezer in the family’s apartment.
Police said they went to the Lynwood, California, apartment Tuesday night after they were called about a dead child, KABC reported. Deputies conducting the welfare check found the boy in the freezer.
The boy’s mother, 25-year-old Destiny Harrison, was arrested and charged with murder. His father, 25-year-old Daniel Monzon, and grandmother, 46-year-old Ana Zarceno-Caramo, were each charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
It wasn’t clear how long the boy had been dead, and investigators have not yet said how he died. Three other children found at the apartment — ages 16, 13, and 9 months — were taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said there had been no prior calls for service to the apartment, KCBS reported.
The suspects are being held on bails of $2 million each. No further information was released.
