If you like it, then you better put a ring on it — at least if you’re Ariana Biermann’s boyfriend, Hudson McLeroy.
Bravo’s The Daily Dish caught up with the Next Gen NYC cast member at DIRECTV’s Plot Twist – Featuring Bravo event in New York City on August 12, diving into the latest on Ariana’s relationship with her longtime beau. Naturally, the topic of marriage was broached during her exclusive interview since the aspiring clothing line creators from Atlanta moved into their first new apartment in the Big Apple. And, according to Ariana, she had one rule and one rule only.
“I mean, so this might sound crazy, and I get it, but I have a five-year rule,” she confessed. “So, if he doesn’t propose in five years, which is in a little less than two years, it’s a no.”
Ariana, who grew up onscreen as the daughter of The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak, explained she and the son of the Zaxby’s chicken fast-food chain founder have been “on and off” since they were 14.
The 23-year-olds have been steady, now, for three years.
Continued Ariana, “But I don’t want to rush him, you know, make him feel, like, pressure. But he talks about it all the time. So, I’m like, ‘Stop talking about it and do it or don’t do it.’ Everyone’s getting engaged! Really, everybody?”
Ariana agreed “the cards [were still] on the table,” and that 25 felt like a good time as any to make an ultimate decision. Then again, she had her mother to impart her wisdom: “My mom always told me, ‘If he doesn’t propose after five years, then you’re already doing too many wife duties.’”

The former Atlanta Housewife and “Tardy for the Party” singer appeared on the July 30 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. There, she explained the pair’s teenage romance as on-again, off-again, adding that she’s known Hudson’s parents for over 20 years.
“I found a little tweet that she had — a message on Twitter that she sent me — and she said, ‘Mom, I just love Hudson, I’m going to wait for him,'” Kim said as Ariana listened from the live audience. ”She was 17. I sent her a screenshot of it! I was like, ‘Ariana, do you remember this? This is crazy.'”
More than once, Kim said she loved her daughter’s BF.

At the aforementioned DIRECTV event, Ariana admitted that her and Hudson’s clothing brand, Adored Angels, hadn’t taken off as they’d hoped.
“You know, unfortunately, I just don’t think I’m as talented as I thought,” she admitted. “Like, in all actuality, I think I had this different idea of what I wanted to do, and I just don’t think that I can produce the best thing. And so I just want to be, like, honest, and if I’m going to put something out there, I want it to be the best ever. And right now, it’s just not looking too hot.”

The couple’s attempt to build a brand was a major storyline on Next Gen NYC’s debut season, but met with criticism from cast member Ava Dash. On Episode 5, Ava claimed she was “surprised” by their decision to move to New York City with the goal of launching a fashion brand.
Ariana joked in her recent interview, “She was right, I have no style!”
