A Texas man was shot and killed moments after he spoke to his girlfriend on FaceTime — and she may have heard him chatting with his alleged killer.
The Houston Police Department told local CBS affiliate KHOU that an unnamed man in his 20s was fatally shot at around 9 p.m. on Saturday. According to police, he was talking to his girlfriend on the phone while waiting for a bus near the corner of East 34th Street and North Main Street, in an area known as Independence Heights in Houston.
The couple had been speaking on FaceTime when an unknown man approached the alleged victim and had what the girlfriend described as a friendly conversation, according to police. But then, the alleged victim took off running and the phone went silent.

Local ABC station KTRK reported that the man”s girlfriend called police after their call was cut off, saying she was worried about her boyfriend. Police said she reportedly tracked his location using his phone.
According to police, the woman found her boyfriend’s phone first. She soon found his body in a grassy area nearby. Police said that the man died of his injuries before first responders could arrive to save him.
While police have not named the victim or his girlfriend, they are seeking the public’s help to find information surrounding the fatal shooting. Police have shared the detail that the alleged victim recently started working at Houston’s historic Jackson’s Barbershop, in the same neighborhood where he was killed. Employees at Jackson’s Barbershop confirmed the man’s employment to KHOU while having positive things to say about him.
