AURORA, Ill. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a 47-year-old woman on suspicion of kidnapping two children for their father, who doesn’t have legal custody of them.
The Aurora Police Department learned about the alleged abduction of two juveniles, ages 11 and 13, on Aug. 14. Officers responded to Rosewood Avenue and discovered the kids were staying with relatives at the time.
Cindy Sanchez allegedly arrived and said she needed to take the children “on their mother’s behalf to her location out of state.” Police allege Sanchez left with the kids, but investigators found out their mother never asked anyone to take the juveniles.
The Chicago Police Department assisted in the case and located Sanchez and the two children at Midway Airport. Aurora Police reportedly helped return the minors to their family.
Authorities took Sanchez into custody. Police allege the children’s father, who doesn’t have legal custody, paid Sanchez to transport the children to him in Mexico through the Texas border. The children were not harmed and remain with relatives.
Sanchez was booked into the Kane County Jail and faces charges of kidnapping, child abduction, and unlawful restraint.
