Gretchen Rossi’s time in New Orleans on The Real Housewives of Orange County‘s cast trip was marked by shocking revelations — including one from Slade Smiley on Season 19, Episode 7.
Comparatively speaking, this bombshell was much lower stakes than the one that spawned the previous night’s drama, but it took her by surprise, nonetheless. Before debriefing her life partner Slade via FaceTime about what went down between her, Tamra Judge, and Katie Ginella, Gretchen struggled to get past Slade’s new look, which you can check out in the photo below.
“OK, what in the serious hell monkey with this mustache?” Gretchen remarked of the bold, new facial hair he was rocking. “I’m going to kill you.”
Slade brushed off her critique with a, “Come on!” before moving on and asking how Gretchen was doing.

“Oh my god, babe, I can’t take you seriously,” she replied, before answering that she was “freakin’ exhausted,” following the big dinner blowup.
That’s when she filled in Slade on how Tamra had “quit” RHOC, after “trying to cause [her] and Katie to have a fight,” as she theorized.
Slade’s reaction to Tamra’s abrupt exit? “Oh, come on! Her lies and her manipulations are all catching up with her.”
Inside Slade Smiley and Tamra Judge’s feud
Even before Gretchen and Tamra came face to face for the first time in 12 years earlier in the season, Slade had already re-entered the fray, referring to his longtime adversary as “Captain Evil.”
During the women’s intense reunion at a group lunch, Gretchen also brought up how Tamra had apparently made disparaging comments about Slade on podcasts and other various interviews over the years.
Also not helping matters was the fact that Tamra showed up to Heather Dubrow’s birthday party with Slade’s ex, Jo De La Rosa, as her plus-one.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, however, Tamra accused Gretchen and Slade of being “stuck in the past,” whereas she wanted to “move forward” with them.

Though Gretchen and Slade’s relationship with Tamra has not shifted much over the years, there has been at least one major change for the couple of 16 years.
Earlier on RHOC Season 19, Gretchen updated viewers that they are now parents to a 6-year-old daughter, Skylar Gray.
One thing that’s remained the same, on the other hand, is that Gretchen and Slade are still not legally married, following their Season 8 engagement in 2013.
“But we are more in love than we were 16 years ago,” she gushed on the show, comparing their romance to that of Hollywood’s Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
Unlike the legendary actors, marriage could still be in the cards for Gretchen and Slade, though, as the RHOC friend revealed in a recent interview.
“It’s all brought back up again,” she told the Orange County Register. “Everyone’s asking us, so maybe this is the time to do it. Skylar is of an age where she can truly understand it… She can be our flower girl.”
