With $50 million potentially on the line, The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys‘ Steven McBee Jr. made no secret of his position on Jesse McBee needing to ask Alli Ventresca to sign a prenup.
So, when Jesse revealed to him — just one day before the wedding — that he decided not to ask Alli to sign the legally binding financial agreement on Season 2, Episode 9, Steven was none too pleased, to put it mildly.
The topic arose again during Steven and Jesse’s recent visit to Bravo HQ, and the eldest McBee brother declared that, even several months later, he still felt “strongly” that Jesse and Alli should have followed his advice and gotten a prenup.
“It protects both parties,” Steven explained in the above video. “And I think that it’s an incentive to stay together, which I think is a good thing.”

Jesse, for his part, chimed in, “During the moment, it was a tough conversation, especially with my mom,” referencing his on-camera heart-to-heart with matriarch Kristi McBee, who vehemently opposed him asking Alli to sign a prenup.
Also complicating matters, he added, was the fact that Kristi’s POV stood in stark contrast to that of his brothers, also including Cole McBee and Brayden McBee, as well as their “anti-marriage” dad, Steven McBee Sr.
Inside Steven McBee Jr. and Jesse McBee’s prenup disagreement
Beginning about a month before Jesse and Alli’s wedding day, Steven began harping on his brother to get the paperwork on his desk ASAP. As the acting CEO of the family business, he warned Jesse that, if he didn’t go through with the prenup, he may have to remove his name from the farm, in order to protect the McBees’ assets in a worst-case scenario.
“If Jesse and Alli were to get a divorce and there’s not a prenup in place, Alli could take 12-and-a-half percent of the farm,” he explained in an Episode 9 confessional. “That’s multi, multi-millions of dollars. Our farm is on the line.”
At Jesse and Alli’s wedding rehearsal, Steven assembled Cole and Brayden, and when neither of them had gotten an update on the matter either, he approached the groom directly.
“I did not get the prenup in time, so I’m trying to figure out what to do,” Steven said, suggesting a post-nuptial agreement, instead.

“Obviously, I appreciate everything that you do in helping me out and all that, because I know I kind of dropped the ball on it,” Jesse replied. “But I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I think Alli’s obviously a lot different than any other girl out there, and I think that we can trust her.”
Steven responded by saying that Alli, who’d been dating Jesse since they were in high school, was “not the problem,” but rather, it was about “setting the precedent” for him and their other two brothers.
Expressing his understanding of that point, Jesse still countered, “I just hate to use that as the reason why she has to sign one. I don’t think that Alli deserves that. I don’t think it’d be very good for our relationship. I think for her and for us, like, it’s best that, honestly, we didn’t.”
As Steven concluded, “It’s not good for the rest of us.”
Kristi McBee reacts to son Jesse McBee’s potential prenup
Before Jesse made his final decision on The McBee Dynasty‘s August 25 episode, he asked his mom, Kristi, for advice on the matter, and she didn’t hold back.
“I’m not for it,” a “totally shocked” Kristi responded. “We’ve known Alli and her family forever.”
She continued, “So, I guess it’s not something I think is necessary. I think it would devastate her. … She’s been with you through everything.”
The mom of four ultimately blamed her ex-husband, Steve Sr., for putting the idea in Jesse’s head.
After Kristi met up with Alli’s mom, Michele, later on, she added in a confessional, “When Jesse brought up this prenup, I was completely shocked. I’m very good friends with Michele. I’m very close with their family. I just think she’d be offended by it. I was offended by it.”
Jesse McBee reflects on his prenup decision with Alli Ventresca
After filming wrapped, Jesse shed new light on his prenup decision in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish.
“I wish me and Alli would’ve had that conversation a little sooner, and obviously, filming a reality television show while talking about it is just not easy to do,” Jesse explained. “We were so busy that, like, we’d have, like, a quick conversation about it and then not talk about it for a few weeks.”
Even with the benefit of hindsight, he admitted he could still see both sides of the debate, though.
“Now that we’re kind of out of it and I can look at it from an outsider’s perspective, I mean, I always thought that it was a good idea,” Jesse elaborated. “If you and your partner love each other and understand that, like, even if something were to happen, like, I wouldn’t want to take anything that you’ve worked [for], and she wouldn’t wanna take anything I worked for.”
