LUFKIN, Texas (TCN) — Police recently arrested a man on suspicion of fatally stabbing a victim who he alleges was following him that day.
According to the Lufkin Police Department, in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 23, officers responded to Glenn Street and were told 44-year-old Wesley Agent had been transported to a hospital after an alleged stabbing. Authorities said the suspect, 31-year-old Jamarcus Doggett, had fled the scene.
Police went to the hospital, where Agent succumbed to his injuries at approximately 3:15 a.m.
Investigators reportedly located Doggett at a nearby residence and interviewed him. According to KTRE-TV, a family member said they were at a birthday party when the suspect and victim got into an altercation in the street. Doggett reportedly told police Agent “had been following around town throughout the day.” He allegedly knew Agent because he had dated Agent’s ex-wife.
Police arrested Doggett and booked him into the Angelina County Jail on a charge of murder.
