Detectives running a Florida undercover operation netted a Michigan family practice doctor, charging him with soliciting a sexual relationship with a 5-year-old girl.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department said that William Murdoch exchanged “stomach churning messages” with their undercover “mom,” detailing “his plan to groom the child and quickly turn the situation sexual.”
The investigation began in June, police said.
“Murdoch, was pursuing a platonic relationship with the fictitious mom to see if she would allow her 5-year-old to be courted by and have a sexual relationship with him,” police said.
“Murdoch, goes into detail of his demented behavior that is too explicit to share in its entirety,” police said. “However, it varied in having a sexual relationship in multiple ways.”
Murdoch’s iCloud and messaging account also revealed other conversations in which Murdoch discussed impregnation, abortions, and “intentional drug and alcohol use to cause birth defects.”
Florida officials issued a warrant for Murdoch’s arrest, and he was taken into custody in Michigan by US Marshals. He is now awaiting extradition to Florida to face a charge of soliciting a parent to consent to the participation of sexual conduct involving a child.
Murdoch worked for the ProMedica Health System in Monroe, according to WXYZ. ProMedica confirmed Murdoch’s arrest in a statement.
“This arrest triggered an immediate suspension of Dr. Murdoch’s hospital privileges and a termination of all activity involving the physician,” the company said. “We are supporting investigation efforts in this case. Our priority is the safety and care of our patients and their families.”
