Mary Cosby is sharing updates on her son, Robert Cosby Jr., and his sobriety journey. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member opened up about Robert Jr.’s struggles during RHOSLC Season 5, and is sharing how he’s doing now.
Mary, who shares Robert Jr. with her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., appeared on the Sirius XM radio show, Reality Checked, on Sept. 10, where she spoke openly about her son’s struggles. She noted that her son is “doing as good as he can” amid it all. “I can just only push him, encourage him, and love him,” she explained. “And that’s what I’m doing. That’s kind of where we are. But he’s still on that road and it’s a hardcore road.”
She admitted that Robert Sr. “is most of the time devastated” by Robert Jr.’s struggles with addiction. “But at the same time, I have hope and I believe in him,” she noted.
“I know that his ability, I mean, I raised him, so I know he’s got all the tools and he’s got all the will, the willpower that he needs and the support,” she added. “He just needs to make up his mind.”

Mary will be sharing more about Robert Jr.’s journey during RHOSLC Season 6. In the trailer for the new season, Mary can be seen opening up to RHOSLC cast member, Whitney Rose, after she asked about Robert Jr. “He’s doing as well as he can be doing,” she told her. “Like, some days he’s good, some days he’s not.”

“You know, it’s his journey,” she added in a tearful confessional. “And I know God will work it out.”
RHOSLCÂ viewers will continue to get a look at Mary’s home life, according to an announcement for the new season. “At home, Mary remains committed to supporting her son Robert Jr.’s sobriety and navigates life after the passing of her estranged mother,” the announcement read.
Mary Cosby shares how Robert Jr. is doing after his rehab program
Mary and Robert Jr. had an emotional conversation during RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 11, where he opened up about his struggles with addiction. During Part 2 of the RHOSLC Season 5 reunion, Mary revealed that Robert Jr. had entered a 30-day rehab program with the support of his parents.Â
“He wanted to go,” Mary said during the reunion. “The way he was telling me and opening up to me, that was a cry [for] help. That was saying, ‘Mom, help me. I’m drowning.'”

She continued, admitting that Robert Jr. is doing “good” after rehab. “I still worry,” she admitted.
