It’s no secret that, for the most part, Kyle Richards tends to keep her hair in various shades of brown. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member’s signature hair color is brunette, but she’s been known to experiment and sometimes even goes to the lighter end of the color spectrum, all the way to blonde.
In fact, back in 2021, Kyle embraced honey blonde chunky highlights in her brown hair. She captioned the look at the time, “Changing it up.”
At the time, the golden blonde highlights are woven into her long, dark chestnut hair, which she wears wavy and loose in the photo (below). The chunky highlights definitely add a shimmering glow to her look.

It’s not the first time Kyle has embraced blonde. Over the years, she’s dabbled in lighter shades. Back in the day, she and her sister, Kim Richards, both went blonde to varying degrees, with Kyle doing an ombre look. And, yes, Kyle has even worn a cropped blonde bob, which is a big departure from her long, dark hair.

When she’s not dipping her toe in the blonde pond, Kyle is usually a brunette and has naturally brown hair. And these days, when she needs to update her dark, glossy hair color, she sometimes heads to her local drug store and picks up a box of color to do it herself at home.

“This is my roots, and I like to touch up [the roots] myself. I’m impatient… See, when I get really creative, I mix them myself,” she noted on Instagram Stories earlier this month, while picking out different shades of brown to personalize the color straight from the box. “I like to mix it up.”
Kyle Richards reveals her hair secrets
In 2010, Kyle spoke to The Daily Dish about what she does to maintain her hair’s healthy appearance. And, it turns out, she likes to keep it all very low-key.

“People are always asking me ‘What do you do to your hair? What do you put on your hair?’” she said. “And the truth is, I think the best thing you can do for your hair is the less is more. The more product you use, the more heat, the more styling, it all damages your hair. I mean, I’ll blow-dry it when I have certain things, but when I don’t, I let it go on its own. And I don’t use product, because it dulls the shine, and I don’t use expensive shampoos.”
By the way, Kyle has also been known to embrace bangs, making a true hair queen.
