Two Teen Girls Riding Bike Are Struck, Killed by Driver Who Had Been Stalking Them – Crime Online

Two 17-year-old girls in New Jersey were killed on Monday when they were struck by a driver who was allegedly stalking them.

Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas were driving electronic bicycles in Cranford when a Jeep SUV struck them. The 17-year-old male driver was apprehended after he drove for a short distance with one of the bicycles under his Jeep before his vehicle became disabled, according to WCBS.

Though the 17-year-old boy has not been identified, WNYW reported that he has been charged with Niotis and Salas’ first-degree murders.

Residents told WCBS that the driver had been stalking one of the girls for months. They claimed that for three months, he would stay in front of her house without recourse. A friend of one of the victim’s families alleged that the teen boy is related to a local police chief, though officials have not confirmed this.

Those close to the victims said there was a restraining order filed against the suspect due to the ongoing stalking. Reports did not specify which girl was being stalked.

“She made complaints and nothing was done,” an acquaintance told WCBS.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has not said whether the 17-year-old boy will be charged as an adult.
