The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp is celebrating the special man in her life. And yes, it’s her dad, rock legend John Mellencamp.
The Two Ts In A Pod podcaster paid tribute to the “Jack & Diane” singer for his 74th birthday. Teddi shared a childhood photo of herself on her famous dad’s shoulders on Instagram, adding that it meant “more to [her] now than ever” as he has been a big support for her as she battles cancer. Continued Teddi, “Because as a dad, he has supported me on his shoulders through the toughest times, in more ways than I thought possible.”
Teddi cited a lyric from her father’s 2008 song, “Longest Days,” adding, “‘Life is short, even in its longest days.’ But what he’s taught me is life is worth the fight, no matter how hard the days are.” She ended by wishing the “Cougs” a happy birthday.

He’s also been by her side and offered up his shoulder to lean on amid her cancer battle. Last spring, the chart-topping musician prepared for the worst possible outcome should Teddi’s health take a turn for the worse, as Teddi told podcast co-host Tamra Judge of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

On the April 9 episode, Teddi shared, “Yesterday, my dad calls 11 times in a row. Finally, I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little. Like, let me enjoy.’ He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum.’”
It was a grim reality for Teddi, whose 2022 melanoma diagnosis later advanced into Stage 4 cancer. She later revealed doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of survival at that time.

Teddi’s birthday tribute to John comes just days after Teddi announced there was “no detectable cancer” amid her battle. On the Oct. 2 episode of the podcast, Teddi told guest Dolores Catania of The Real Housewives of New Jersey of brighter days ahead, but warned that she would have to continue immunotherapy treatment. “People think that just because the cancer’s gone, that I can’t still get sick or whatever, but I’m still in treatment,” Teddi said.

Teddi told RHOBH’s Erika Jayne on the Sept. 1 episode of the Diamonds in the Rough podcast that she was indeed dating an unnamed someone. The news came nearly two months after Teddi and her “mystery” boyfriend called things off. Of the July breakup, Teddi said, “It started getting to the point where it was starting to get a little bit more serious, and I was like, ‘I don’t have the capacity for this right now’… There’s nothing that he did or anything like that. Nothing dramatic happened.”
Teddi is keeping details of her current relationship close to the chest, however. “I’ve been on probably eight dates with this person,” Teddi told Erika. “Not the young guy. You haven’t met him… He’s such a nice guy, such a good guy.”
