NAPERVILLE, Ill. (TCN) — A 61-year-old man was recently convicted of beating his wife to death several years ago after allegedly finding texts on her phone from another man.
According to an Oct. 8 news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, a judge found Alan Wang guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, 35-year-old Hongyan Yang. Wang is scheduled to appear in court again on Nov. 12.
On March 8, 2020, Naperville Police and Fire responded to the couple’s home, where they found Yang unresponsive. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Prosecutors said an autopsy revealed she died because of blunt force trauma due to assault.Â
Upon further investigation, authorities reportedly learned that on the night before, “Wang and his wife were in their bedroom, and when Wang found texts on her phone from another man, he kicked his wife multiple times.” A family member called 911 the following day.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin stated, “To Hongyan’s surviving family and friends, I offer my sincerest condolences on their loss and wish them strength as they continue their lives without the love and support she once provided.”
