A Tennessee couple was arrested this week, 10 months after their indictment on child abuse charges and nearly two years after police began in investigation into the allegations.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was never able to locate Harry James Reed II , 26, and Alexis D. Austin, 22, however, until an anonymous tip told them where the couple was.
Sheriff Keith Sexton told WCYB that Reed and Austin were indicted in January on charges of aggravated child abuse, neglect of a child, aggravated child endangerment, and child endangerment. The sheriff’s department investigated the case a year earlier.
Authorities said that an tip came in on the agency’s Tip 411 app, leading to their arrest at a home in Gray.
Austin was given a $50,000 bond, and Reid, who also had warrants for failure to appear and probation violation, got a $75,000 bond, the Kingsport Times-News said.
No other information about the case was made available.
