A man, woman, and a “small child” were found shot to death on their front porch in an apparent double murder-suicide in rural Texas on Thursday after the man reportedly made distressing phone calls to family members earlier in the day.
According to KTRK, family members went to check on the family when they hadn’t been able to contact them for about two hours. The family members found the three dead and called 911.
A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the phone calls made by the man man revealed possible motives for the murder-suicide but declined to provide details.
The sheriff’s office said it recovered a gun from the scene.
“This is a tragic event. It will shock people’s conscience to see this kind of thing happening in our community, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family members, especially those who have discovered this horrible incident,” Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle told KPRC.
The names of the victims and the murderer have not been released.
