Statewide Turquoise Alert Issued for Missing 16-Year-Old Arizona Girl – Crime Online

Police in Arizona are searching for a 16-year-old girl who vanished inexplicably Saturday.

According to the City of Mesa Police Department, a statewide Turquoise Alert has been issued Yolyn Hermios, 16, who was last seen at around 6:50 p.m. local time, near Dobson and Broadway Road in Mesa.

“Family is concerned for her welfare since it is out of character for her to be gone for an extended period of time,” police said.

Hermios was last seen in red shorts, a black shirt and black shoes, according to the police.

She’s described as a Pacific Islander who stands 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs around 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair with “green faded highlights,” according to police.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Turquoise Alert, also known as “Emily’s Law,” was named after 14-year-old Emily Pike, who was found murdered earlier this year after vanishing from a Mesa group home.

“The goal of the Turquoise Alert is to locate the missing endangered person through efficient information dissemination and communication that results in the safe and expedient recovery,” ADPS said.

“The Turquoise Alert system is cited as “Emily’s Law” to honor and memorialize the life of San Carlos Apache Tribal member, Emily Pike.”

Anyone with information on Yolyn’s whereabouts should contact 911.
