Former NFL Wide Receiver Antonio Brown Charged With Attempted Murder, Extradited From Dubai – Crime Online

Former NFL star Antonio Brown was arrested in Dubai and extradited to the United States, where he is charged with attempted murder in a shooting incident at a celebrity boxing match in Miami in May.

Miami police spokesperson Mike Vega said that the 37-year-old former wide receiver his being held in New Jersey before he’s brought back to Florida, ESPN reported.

It’s not clear why he was brought to New Jersey. He has apparently been in Dubai for some time, having posted on social media from there multiple times in recent months.

An arrest warrant says that Brown was attending a boxing match on May 16 and got into a fist fight with Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. He allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots at Nantambu, grazing his neck.

Brown was initially detained but released after several hours. He posted on social media the next day that he “was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.”

“Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me,” he wrote. “I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me.”

The video in question showed Brown fighting with several people, and gunshots are heard in the video.

The warrant charges Brown with attempted second degree murder.

Brown spent 12 year in the National Football League, most of that time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, when he took his jersey, shoulder pads, and gloves and ran off the field during a game with the New York Jets. The Buccaneers released him after the incident, effectively ending his career.

He has also had several run-ins with law enforcement over the years, including several domestic violence charges, failure to pay child support, and battery of a moving truck driver.
