In her sixth season as a snowflake holder, Mary looked back at the contrast between then and now as part of an October interview at Bravo HQ in New York City. When asked what she would tell her former self before joining the cast, she jokingly said, “Don’t do it,” before laughing at herself. In all seriousness, after giving herself a moment to think, Mary wasn’t quite sure what she’d say.

“I like what I did,” Mary proudly explained. “I feel like I stood my ground. I feel like I demanded my boundaries and created them.”

She agreed that she’d “probably” tell a younger version of herself that she did a good job, concluding with, “You got this.”

Mary Cosby and Robert Jr.’s journey on RHOSLC Season 6

Mary returned to Season 6 with fellow OGs Heather Gay, Whitney Rose, Meredith Marks, and Lisa Barlow, plus later Housewives Angie Katsanevas, Bronwyn Newport, and friend Britani Bateman. So far, this season, she has let viewers into the addiction struggles faced by her 22-year-old son, Robert Jr. (whom Mary shares with Robert Cosby Sr.).

Following her son’s 30-day stint in a drug rehabilitation center, Mary was excited to renovate her Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in hopes of anchoring Robert Jr.’s faith during his recovery. Earlier in the season, he revealed to his mother he felt “at a standstill” in the process.

Offering a glimpse at the latter’s ongoing journey, Mary shared in Episode 4, “He’s good. I mean, we’re probably 100 times closer now, which is even more hurtful, because now I know when he’s fallen off, especially now that I’m fully aware of what’s going on.”

What Mary Cosby shared about her marriage on RHOSLC Season 6

Audiences have been privy, since Season 1, to Mary’s unconventional marriage to Robert Sr. As the second husband to Mary’s late grandmother, Rosemary “Mama” Cosby, Robert Sr. and Mary married because Rosemary “literally” left her entire empire to Mary.

“When my grandmother left, she left me her empire: homes, churches, daycares, a mortgage company, restaurants,” Mary explained back on Season 1. “Including her husband.”

But it was only during this season that Mary opened up like never before about her unorthodox union to her step-grandfather, who serves as a Bishop in the family church. As she put it, “That was odd to both of us. Marry me? He obeyed what Mama wanted. He wasn’t trying to do anything extra.”

As you await more Mary on RHOSLC Season 6, see why Andy Cohen called one RHOSLC episode “one of the best single episodes of television in Bravo history.”
