Like mother, like daughter because, Angel Bryant can now count herself as an Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sister. The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member Gizelle Bryant shared the news in an Instagram post on Nov. 17, proudly naming her 19-year-old twin daughter an active member of the sorority.
“CONGRATULATIONS ANGEL who is now my SOROR,” Gizelle stated with pink and green heart emojis. “Tears of joy and pride I have felt all day. LEGACY! Welcome to the beautiful pink and green world of Alpha Kappa Alpha.”
The mother of three shared photos of the sophomore at Spelman College, a women’s-only HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in Atlanta, Georgia. Angel jumped into the comment section to write, “Love you mommy” for Gizelle, a proud Alpha Kappa Alpha sister from her days at Hampton University in Virginia. Gizelle later shared a video from the big event, writing, “Legacy.”
Angel, like her mother, now represents a sorority joined by some of the most influential Black women of the world, including Kamala Harris, Maya Angelou, and Rosa Parks.
Meanwhile, Angel’s dad, Jamal Bryant, also celebrated the moment on Instagram. “Super proud of [Angel] becoming a member of [Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority] last night. She represents 3 generations of our family in D9,” he wrote. “The woman she is becoming is going to impact the world, influence a generation and inspire the community. Give it up for sweet 16!”
Gizelle Bryant represents Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority
Gizelle has always shared her love of the AKA sorority, even returning to her alma mater in October for a homecoming reunion. She represented Alpha Kappa Alpha alongside her fellow sisters, sporting the colors she has proudly worn since joining in 1990.
“Celebrating 35 YEARS of [AKA Sorority],” she wrote on Instagram with photos of Gizelle in her letter jacket. “Come thru [Gamma Theta chapter], love my line sisters.”
Where are Gizelle Bryant’s kids going to college?
Gizelle’s twin daughters decided on heading to separate colleges to find their “own identities,” they said in a 2024 exclusive interview with The Daily Dish. Adore chose to follow in Gizelle’s footsteps by attending Hampton University, where she studies International Relations with the aim of pursuing pre-law, and Angel found Health Science the way to go during her time at Spelman.

Although Angel once confessed to being “nervous” about being away from Adore for the first time, she explained she was excited by Spelman “because I wanted an HBCU experience.” Furthermore, “The opportunities presented at this institution, I felt, were unmatched.”
Angel, at the time of the 2024 interview, hoped to minor in Spanish.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old big sister, Grace Bryant, continues to thrive as a junior studying public relations at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, an HBCU in Tallahassee, Florida.

“My dad went to a Black college (Texas Southern University), and he was nudging me in that direction. I didn’t know it, but he was,” she explained. “My dad was very influential in the Civil Rights movement. He’s all about empowering the Black community and doing what’s best for us. But when I got to [Hampton University], that’s when I figured out that I was where I was supposed to be … I realized, ‘OK, this is special, right? This is family. This is a community that cares for each other…’ It was an experience I was grateful for.”
