A source with the Los Angeles Police Department says that singer D4vd has been identified as a suspect in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas.
KNBC reports that the source, “with direct knowledge of the investigation,” says that the Houston-born artist has not been cooperative with the investigation into the teen’s death.
Rivas’s “severely decomposed” body was found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, on September 8, a day after her 15th birthday, as CrimeOnline previously reported. The vehicle was at a tow yard near Burke’s Hollywood Hills rental home, where it had been taken after it was abandoned on the street.
The vehicle had been at the lot for several days before police made the discovery. Police said the girl’s dismembered body had been put in a bag and left in the front trunk.
The manner of death has been determined to be a homicide, but a cause of death has not yet been determined as results of toxicology tests have been been completed.
Rivas reportedly left her home earlier this year, allegedly to be with Burke, although police have not confirmed that information.
Police say they believe Rivas died in the spring and that more than one person was likely involved in the dismemberment and disposal of the body, KNBC said.
