Kate Chastain admits her romantic life has been pretty inactive, but that could change very soon. The Below Deck alum shed more light on her relationship status during an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, explaining why she put dating on the back burner after welcoming her son, Sullivan Cay.
Kate Chastain explains why she has yet to re-enter the dating scene
“So, I actually don’t have any dating updates because my son’s only 2 and a half,” she said during BravoCon 2025. “And it’s not that I’ve given up on dating, I just currently have priorities.
“I think it’s… I’m getting ready,” she added. “I’m getting ready, but we’re almost there.”
The comments were similar to those made during Bravo Fan Fest in Miami, where Kate explained why she wasn’t quite ready to re-enter the dating scene. She told the audience she was simply too busy with her first-time mom duties, and had yet to meet anyone who piqued her interest — at least not to the degree where she was willing to pay for childcare.

“You know, I haven’t really met anybody I feel like paying a babysitter hourly for yet,” she said at the 2024 event. “So, we’ll get there, I guess.”
Kate Chastain gets candid about being a single parent
Kate has never revealed the identity of Sullivan Cay’s father, but after announcing her pregnancy in late 2022, she confirmed she would raise her child “solo.” Although Kate acknowledged that being a single parent came with a unique set of challenges, she was confident her experience as a chief stew equipped her with the skills to handle any situation. However, she quickly realized that parenting wasn’t as easy as she had anticipated.

“It is so much different than I expected, so much more difficult,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2023. “I love a challenge. But a lot of moms would DM me on social media over the years and be like, ‘I’m the chief stew in my house! I’m the chief stew at my home! I’ve got three kids, I cook dinner, I’ve got to do their laundry and all their rooms and, you know, picnics…’ I said, ‘Yeah, I guess it’s kind of similar. Good for you.’ But now I’m like, I wish I could tell all of those moms you had it so much harder!”
