‘Menace to Society’ Had Images of Babies Being Sexually Abused – Crime Online

An Ohio man appeared in court last week, weeks after his arrest for allegedly having sexually-explicit images of children on his phone.

Robert Shepard’s bond has been set at $1.9 million, following a November 26 court hearing. Police arrested Shepard, 50, on November 10 — months after Hamilton County police got a cybertip about child sex abuse materials on his phone, according to WXIX.

Prosecutors said some of the images discovered in Shepard’s phone depicted babies — including adult men raping newborns and infants, WCPO reported.

Calling him a “menace to society,” Hamilton County prosecutor Connie Pillich told WXIX that Shepard may have even more victims. Prosecutors revealed in court that two child victims levied allegations against him following his arrest.

“The defendant has acted upon these urges. There are two investigations that I’m aware of where victims in our community, children in our community, have reported the defendant since he was arrested,” prosecutors told the judge, per the news outlet.

More abuse content was reportedly recovered from Shepard’s other phones.

Shepard, who was initially jailed on $350,000 bond, is charged with illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Additional charges are possibly forthcoming.
