Why Monique Samuels Was Shocked by Wendy on RHOP After Show

It seems that absence made Monique Samuels and Wendy Osefo’s hearts grow fonder on The Real Housewives of Potomac.

How to Watch

The Real Housewives of Potomac After Show streams on Peacock.

Following Monique’s RHOP return on Season 10, Episode 7, the ladies broke down their mutually unexpected reactions to seeing each other for the first time in nearly five years, on The Real Housewives of Potomac After Show.

As Monique put it in the above clip, she “was shocked” by Wendy “immediately” appearing happy to see her literally dancing her way into Ashley Darby’s Pride pre-game. “So, that was really cool,” the Season 10 friend shared.

After all, there had been zero communication between the two since they shot the RHOP Season 5 reunion back in November 2020.

“I have not talked to Wendy or seen Wendy since reunion — like, at all,” Monique pointed out. “Like, I blocked everybody except for Ashley. So, the last time we left, it was like she was coming for me at the reunion … pretty heavy.”

She continued, “And it just kind of left on a note where it was really weird, and her and I hadn’t even really gotten to know each other.”

Their failure to connect during her previous RHOP run was similarly surprising to Monique, especially considering they “hit it off, like, right away,” as she added.

“We had so much in common, even the ages of our kids,” Monique recalled. “So, it felt like we kind of went back to that moment versus back to reunion where we left off. It felt like catching up with an old friend.”

Separately on the RHOP After Show, Wendy explained that her reaction to coming face to face with Monique was actually instinctual.

“I was so surprised; I had no idea she was coming,” she chimed in. “And I’m in such a zen place, I wanted to, like, naturally just give her a hug.”

As Wendy concluded, “It was good to see her face, yeah.”

On the heels of the group get-together, Monique and Wendy met for lunch for a more proper one-on-one catchup session during Episode 8.

In a confessional, Wendy said she was “surprised” that Monique had reached out to her for the sitdown, citing their past drama. “But I was also open because I know that people change,” she reasoned of her willingness to turn the page.

During their lunch, Wendy noted, “It’s literally like a new chapter,” adding, “It sucks because I feel like we never really got to know each other. It was like we were getting there and then all hell broke loose.”

Monique, for her part, offered, “I gave everybody space. Even when I saw y’all when I came to Pride, I was like I don’t want to come off like we’re being fake. But it felt nice. The energy was good.”

From there, she asked Wendy for updates on her friendship status with Gizelle Bryant and what was going on with Karen Huger. Then, Wendy spilled the tea on the new additions to the group, namely Stacey Rusch, who was battling rumors that she dated Monique’s ex-husband, Chris Samuels.

In the following episode, which aired on Nov. 30, Wendy even helped orchestrate a meeting between Monique and Stacey to talk through the speculation about Chris and come to a peaceful resolution amid discord within the group.

As Wendy explained to Stacey in Episode 9, “If Monique is OK and she doesn’t have an issue with this and she can move past it, then why can’t the other ladies do the same?”

As the drama continues, don’t miss what Wendy shared about her and Monique’s past in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish.
