During The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6, viewers witnessed several tough, emotional conversations between Bronwyn Newport and her mother (who goes by Muzzy), especially after Muzzy moved into the home Bronwyn shares with her husband Todd Bradley.
During a recent visit to Bravo HQ, Bronwyn revealed exactly where her relationship with her mother stands now.
“My mom and I are great,” Bronwyn shared, although she admitted living with her mother is still “tricky… It’s a lot of together time.”
Bronwyn and her mother are “very similar and very different in like all the wrong ways,” she revealed. “I’m somebody who puts everything on camera,” Bronwyn explained. “Good. Bad. Mundane. And so, there’s been some really tough conversations with my mom that my husband, and probably other people watching, would be like, ‘I wouldn’t put that on camera.’”
But Bronwyn feels there is a positive side to living her life in front of cameras.
“It really forced my mom and I to have those conversations, and to know that people were going to see them one day, and where did we want to go from there,” she said. “I don’t think we’re ever going to like, go back in time, obviously, and fix some of the harder things we’ve had in our past. But my mom told me on camera she was proud of me, which was a big deal for me.”
That conversation had a huge impact on their relationship. “I think we both really needed to meet that moment, and you see that happen, which was important to me,” Bronwyn said. “And I’m glad I have it on camera.”
Bronwyn Newport hears the words she’s “always wanted” from her mother on RHOSLC Season 6
Bronwyn and Muzzy reached a huge milestone during Season 6, Episode 12, as they sat down for an emotional heart-to-heart. Bronwyn had previously revealed that her mother was upset with her decision to have her daughter, Gwen, at such a young age.
“I’ve always wanted to make you proud of me. And I’ve always wanted you to think I did something worthwhile,” Bronwyn told her mother in the Dec. 2 episode.
“I am proud of you,” Muzzy said. “I don’t know how to say that. It’s not that I don’t mean it, and I don’t think about it. It’s just, I think my parents were the same way. I knew that they loved me. But they always expected more, and so, I’m the same way.”
The conversation meant “a lot” to Bronwyn, she shared.

Bronwyn and her mother touched on another difficult subject during the Dec. 2 episode, when Bronwyn confessed, “I very much worry what you think about me.”
Reminding her mother of the aftermath of her pregnancy at a young age, Bronwyn shared, “I was making choices you didn’t agree with, and you were very vocal about those.”
“I told you that I learned my lesson,” Muzzy said, to which Bronwyn added, “We’ve moved through it.”
“I actually think it’s interesting that the thing you were most mad at me about was having Gwen. And now the thing you love best about me is Gwen,” Bronwyn mused.
Muzzy surprised her daughter by admitting, “You’ve been a great mom for Gwen. You need to be proud of what you’re doing because you’re doing a great job.”

She continued: “You always told Gwen, ‘You’re the best thing in the world! You’re the smartest! … That’s great because she is well-rounded, and she gets all that from you.”
Bronwyn shared how much her mother’s words touched her during her confessional. “For her to be able to voice that — be willing to say it, and be willing to say it to me — is a huge step for us,” she said. “I think sometimes you have to hear it.”
