Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper’s relationship as friends is still going strong. The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host and his longtime BFF do everything together — from going on vacation to hosting a New Year’s Eve special together.
But, that doesn’t mean they are in constant communication. Both Andy and Anderson spoke with Parade in an interview published on Dec. 17, where Andy dished on how often he speaks to Anderson. “It depends on Anderson’s state of mind,” he admitted.
“Sometimes he’s in a friendlier mode than others and wants companionship, and he’s feeling extra chatty,” he continued. “And sometimes he’s in his Arctic silo. I’m like, very consistent. I always want to chat with him. I always want to kiki with him. So it ebbs and flows.”
And although their friendship is super strong, Anderson and Andy admitted to the publication that they do fight. Their most recent “big fight” occurred during Andy and Anderson’s trip to Disney in April with their four combined kids. “It was stupid. We worked it out, but…” Andy told the publication.
“It sounds very Housewives. Very Reunion,” Anderson added.
“It was short-lived,” Andy noted. “I refer to it as a flash fight, like a flash flood. It came on strong, and then it just went away.”

Andy and Anderson will serve as the co-hosts for CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper for the ninth consecutive year, according to an announcement. The duo will lead the countdown to the new year, along with some very special and surprise guests.

Anderson appeared on WWHL in November, where he opened up about his favorite part of co-hosting the special with Andy for nearly a decade. “When I got to go home,” he admitted. His least favorite moment about co-hosting with Andy? “When you rant against the Times Square Coalition,” he told Andy.

New Year’s Eve isn’t the only thing that they’re co-hosting. Once Andy and Anderson ring in 2026, they will be heading out on the road for their upcoming tour.
Andy and Anderson will be hanging out in New York City for two nights on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 to host AC2: An Intimate Evening with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen” at the Beacon Theater. “I think you’ll laugh, you’ll cry…it’s a multi-centric experience,” Anderson said during a September announcement video, which was posted to Instagram.

“A friend of mine from high school tried to set us up,” Anderson explained to The Daily Dish in 2015. “We made the mistake, or rather, the right move, of having a phone call beforehand. I was at my office and had a long conversation with him, and after a little bit I thought, ‘There’s no point in having a date.'”
“We’re really good friends, but there’s never been anything,” Andy said of his relationship with Anderson during a 2013 appearance on The Talk.

Andy and Anderson aren’t just friends — their kids are close friends, too. Andy is the dad of 6-year-old son, Benjamin Allen Cohen, and 3-year-old daughter, Lucy Eve Cohen. Anderson, meanwhile, is the dad of two sons — Wyatt and Sebastian Maisani-Cooper. In addition to going to Disney together, Andy and Anderson have brought their kids to so many places around NYC.
Anderson told Parade that he admires Andy as a father. “I love watching him be the dad that he is, and I think he’s amazing at it,” Anderson said. “And I love how he is with his parents and his family, and I think the way that he is with his friends is extraordinary. I don’t know anybody who has as many truly close friends as Andy does.”

Andy also told the publication that he admires how Anderson is as a father. “I think he’s a great dad,” Andy said. “I think he is very loyal. He is very kind. He is incredibly sensitive in ways that people don’t understand.”
