Shep Rose’s cousin Marcie Hobbs is returning to Southern Charm with some major life updates.

Viewers met Marcie on Southern Charm in 2022, just as she and husband her John were preparing to welcome their first baby. When Shep stops by his cousin’s home in the above first look at Season 11, Episode 6 (airing on Jan. 7), she reveals that she’s actually now a mom of two children: Edie, 3, and Davis, 1.

As Marcie reminds Shep, he hasn’t seen Edie since she was a baby, and he is just meeting Davis for the first time.

“I know, I know. I feel terrible,” Shep replies, before adding in a confessional, “I wish I saw Marcie more. Of course, she has two young children. So, yeah, it’s an obviously different path and journey that she’s now on. That’s not me.”

Referencing her new mom role, even Marcie, who works as a real estate agent, admits, “This is it. This is all I do right now.”

Indeed, Marcie’s Instagram highlights her family’s milestones and adventures, including plenty of vacations, as well as her and John recently celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary in May 2025.

Marcie Hobbs weighs in on Shep Rose’s lifestyle and potential fatherhood

As Shep is spending time entertaining his little cousins in the clip, Marcie asks if he’s catching baby fever and want’s “to be a daddy” soon.

“Maybe. I think I have a paternal instinct a little bit,” he answers. “I’m just trying to figure it out.”

In the meantime, he’s focusing on other “adult things,” such as his new home on Sullivan’s Island, as he tells Marcie, who jokes that he’s not a “conventional suburban house” kind of guy. But because he wants a family someday, she asks for an update on what exactly he’s “looking for” in a potential romantic partner.

After Shep describes his ideal mate as a “fellow adventurer,” Marcie bluntly points out that it seems as though he’s looking for “someone flexible” to fit his “needs.” Either way, she says, “I guess you know what you want.”

Shep, meanwhile, owns up to the fact that he sounds “like an egomaniac,” adding, “[Settling] down is not something I aspire to. But all my heroes are, you know, ill-behaved guys. Warren Beatty is a famous playboy, and he got married and has four kids, so it could be done. I’m not a famous playboy, unfortunately.”

Inside Shep Rose’s relationship with cousin Marcie Hobbs

When Marcie made her Southern Charm debut during Season 8, she described her pre-marriage self as “kind of like a girl Shep.” Unlike her cousin, however, she noted that her “wild Animal House parties” had since transitioned to “nice dinner parties.”

And she was never afraid to call out her first cousin either, with her BravoTV.com bio stating, “Marcie and Shep have always been close, and she is one of the few people who can ask Shep the hard-hitting questions without feeling his wrath.”

As Shep previously described during a Season 8 confessional, “Marcie and I are the black sheep, there’s no doubt about it. We’re the only ones out of 14, 15 grandchildren that aren’t married with kids. … Well, up until now.”

Is Southern Charm airing new episodes during the holidays?

No. After a two-week holiday break, new episodes of Southern Charm resume airing on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.

As you wait for Southern Charm to return, don’t miss what Shep exclusively spilled about his next career move to The Daily Dish.
