California Man Guns Down Half Brother, Turns on Gas While Victim’s Children Sleep – Crime Online

A 32-year-old California man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his half brother and attempted murder of the victim’s two children.

The Redlands Police Department said they were called to an apartment Tuesday morning on a shots fired call and found 36-year-old Aaron Richard Rivera dead from gunshot wounds.

The suspect had fled the scene, leaving the gas burners open on the stove while Rivera’s two children slept.

“Family members and evidence located at the scene indicated the suspect was the victim’s half-brother, Zackary Aaron Brodowski,” police said. “Surveillance cameras at the apartment complex also showed Brodowski leaving the scene immediately after the shooting and leaving in a silver 2008 Ford Focus.”

Detectives tracked Brodowski down at his own home in Calimesa, and he was arrested without incident. Investigators also located a firearm believed used in the murder and clothing matching what Brodowski was seen wearing in the surveillance video.

Brodowski is being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center.
