The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp is nothing but grateful to have Kyle Richards as her BFF, and she just shared details about their “sisterhood” in a recent Instagram post.
Teddi, who continues to be candid about her health journey with stage 4 cancer, credited the mom of four on her birthday for having such a huge impact on her life. “They say there’s a reason for everybody who comes into your life,” Teddi began in the Jan. 11 post. “For [Kyle], there’s more than a reason; there’s a purpose.”
The post included a couple of photos of the two of them, with their long-lasting friendship beginning when Teddi joined RHOBH in Season 8 (2017) and consisting of Kyle initially encouraging Teddi to have a suspicious mole on her back checked by a medical professional — a decision that led to Teddi’s melanoma (skin cancer) diagnosis in late 2022. They’ve been close ever since, as Teddi continued in her tribute: “From the moment we met on the show, there was a natural connection. But now, after everything, there’s a sisterhood that can’t be broken. I’m so grateful for the support, encouragement, and love that you bring no matter what life throws our way. I probably wouldn’t be writing this if it weren’t for you.”
Teddi went on to wish Kyle a happy birthday, with many jumping on in awe of their friendship, including Erika Jayne, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Marysol Patton, and The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Melissa Gorga, among others.
Kyle Richards shares an update on Teddi Mellencamp’s health
It was only in October — just weeks before BravoCon 2025 kicked off in Las Vegas — that Teddi reported “no detectible cancer” after years of battling the disease that metastasized to her lungs and brain and gave her a grim 50/50 prognosis. Last month, Kyle told USA Today that Teddi continued to have good days and bad days as she continues two more years of immunotherapy treatment.

“I mean, she has hard days, you know, when she feels very down, where she doesn’t have the energy, and then other days, she pulls it together, and she’s great,” Kyle said. “She’s doing her podcast, still killing it with that, and still working, but it’s hard. It’s hard, even though she’s cancer-free now, now she’s trying to get her life back.”
Kyle said she encouraged Teddi to go to BravoCon, adding she was “really proud” to see her power through. As the 90210 OG recalled, “She was really nervous to go to BravoCon because she said, ‘You know what, I don’t have the energy,’ and I said, ‘Everyone gets the energy once you’re in Vegas; it’s contagious.’”

As Kyle put it, “I mean, what I was going through first, and then what she was going through with her separation, and then having this curveball come at her, like, this was just really mind-blowing, you know, to think that someone that you’re so close to and love so much is going through something so scary … I just love and appreciate her so much.”
