Kandi Burruss Shares Health and Fitness Update (JANUARY 2026)

Kandi Burruss wasn’t lying when she declared 2026 a year of “transformation.” Less than two weeks into the new year, The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum hopped on Instagram to share a quick update on her months-long fitness journey. Kandi posted a series of selfies taken backstage at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, where she’s currently performing in the Broadway production of & Juliet.

“In between the matinee & our evening show with my wig off & taking a good look at myself…” she captioned the January 11 carousel. “When I started [& Juliet], I was about 161lbs. Now I’m down to 145 in less than 2 months. No diet meds. Just a little stress… & then changed my eating, prayer, fasting, & working on me. I gotta keep this going! Gonna be the best version of myself!”

Kandi reshared one of the photos on her Stories, celebrating the fact that her abdominal muscles were becoming increasingly visible.

“My abs are coming back!” she wrote. “On my way back to being my best self!”

Kandi Burruss gives an honest look at her fitness routine

As indicated in her caption, Kandi upped her health and fitness regimen upon landing the three-month Broadway gig. She has regularly taken to social media to share inside looks at her workout routines and training sessions with Kory Phillips, owner of the Lovely Bodies Health & Fitness Gym and the Shake Sum Cafe Nutritional Company.

Days before her & Juliet debut, Kandi shared an honest video during a particularly tough but admittedly short workout.

“I’m tired. I didn’t even do no full workout today, so I already know that Kory is gonna be talking trash about me,” she said with a laugh. “But I did get up, get down here for 30 minutes, and I worked out. I didn’t do my full hour, so if he’s out there talkin’ trash, it’s OK… Sometimes you’re not gonna be able to give a whole hour.”

Kory reacted to Kandi’s confession on his page. And, no, he didn’t “trash talk” her or her abbreviated session.

“I’m proud of you,” he replied. “You could’ve easily done nothing, and there was a time in your life when you wouldn’t have showed up. But TODAY you did. That’s major growth. You actually motivated me today, because I know you’re tired, but you still pushed through. Reason number 190,886,688,566,444 why you’re the GOAT.”

Kandi Burruss opens up about her weight loss journey

Kandi opened up about her health and fitness journey during a 2024 interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, saying she experienced weight gain after announcing her RHOA exit. She told the hosts she was “eating good” and “living good,” but eventually found herself above her desired weight.

“Now, mind you, I was already 10 pounds over my desired weight at the top of the year,” she said at the time. “But then, when I announced that I was not going to do Housewives anymore, I was eating dessert every day, taking trips, just living it up. Before I knew it, I was 170 pounds, and it was not cute.”

Kandi said she decided to intensify her workouts and clean up her diet after reading comments about her weight gain.

“That was it for me,” she explained. “Something about turning 48, I was like, ‘I definitely want to live my best life, but I want to be one of those chicks that, always, you can never tell my age by the way I look.”

Get more details about Kandi’s physical transformation and her short-lived experience with Ozempic.
