The Valley’s Brittany Cartwright is continuing to navigate life as a single mom to her 4-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.
“I feel like I’m thriving as a single mom,” Brittany said on the Jan. 13 episode of California Live. “My son is so amazing, and I feel like … I always wanted to be a mom. He’s so cute. He is my little everything; he’s my best friend, and, you know, honestly, I just love having him with me all the time. I just love it.”
What’s more, she’s also making some headway in her co-parenting journey with Jax Taylor as they continue to move closer to finalizing their divorce.
As Brittany explained in the recent sit-down, co-parenting had its “ups and downs,” but “I think that we are getting better at it.”
“I take care of pretty much everything by myself, so, you know, [Jax] is doing better and a lot of things like that,” she added. “He definitely loves his son, but, you know, I just get things done.”
Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s relationship timeline
Jax, a former bartender at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR in West Hollywood, met Brittany in Las Vegas in 2015 before the former Hooters waitress took up residence in Los Angeles and became a cast member in Season 4. One year later, the couple starred in the brief spinoff, Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky, as their tumultuous relationship played out for several seasons on the restaurant-based series.
They married at a Kentucky castle with cameras rolling in June 2019 and announced one year later that they were expecting a baby. Cruz, their only child, was born on April 12, 2021.

Fast forward to the parents’ main-cast roles on the Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley, which premiered in March 2024 — around the same time Brittany and Jax announced their separation. Amid Jax’s confessed struggles with his mental health and substance abuse, Brittany filed for divorce on Aug. 25, 2024.
Following the second season of The Valley, Jax confirmed his exit from the series. In his July 15, 2025, statement, he stated, “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself – especially for our son, Cruz.”
Brittany has been open about her co-parenting struggles with Jax ever since, especially on their once-shared podcast, When Reality Hits.
Brittany Cartwright shares her hopes for coparenting Cruz Cauchi with Jax Taylor
On the Nov. 8 episode of the podcast, Brittany said she “love[d]” being a “full-time mom” as Jax took a more hands-off approach. Still, she expressed hope for the future in an update about her estranged husband.
“You know, I think Jax is trying to work on himself,” she told listeners. “So I hope that, you know, we can continue to work on our co-parenting relationship and just get better and stronger all the time. And hopefully, one day, it will be a very successful co-parenting relationship, because that’s what really matters. Cruz is always going to come first.”
