Kyle Richards’ Theory on Why Dorit Is Angry at PK Friendship

Kyle Richards’ support of Dorit Kemsley during her divorce from Paul “PK” Kemsley has been a point of contention in their friendship since The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15 premiere—and it doesn’t look to be getting resolved anytime soon. Kyle shared her new thoughts on the reason for Dorit’s upset during The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show—and Kyle’s estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, is involved.

“Maybe it bothers Dorit that she knows how close Mau and PK are, and that I’m hearing things from Mau—maybe that’s part of it,” Kyle speculated. “Maybe she feels the need to over-explain the point she wants to make to me, because she knows I’m hearing some of the things, maybe? I don’t know.”

According to Dorit, however, there was a clear blueprint for how the situation should be handled: “When Kyle and Mau had first separated…they didn’t have the friendship that they have 1768537323,” Dorit explained on the After Show. “They were very estranged. And bitter. And PK and I were still together. And very close. So, PK was sharing with me his friendship, and how Mau was feeling, and so on.”

“I never once felt it hard to have an allegiance to Kyle. In fact, I never once felt like I was betraying my husband. I would say to my husband, ‘Oh, I am firmly in her court,’” Dorit said. “And—she doesn’t know this—but [I] stood in defense of her more times than you could ever imagine… I think that’s why also, it feels so like, ‘This is not hard’…to give that type of support.”

Dorit Kemsley explains the support she wants from Kyle Richards

One of Dorit and Kyle’s recent disagreements over PK unfolded in Episode 2, when Dorit felt Kyle was defending PK’s behavior surrounding a trip to Florida with their children by urging her to “meet in the middle” with him. Dorit later confronted Kyle about the issue in Episode 4.

“Kyle had come over to my house, and you know, I shared with her that I don’t always feel the most supported by her,” Dorit recalled to Bozoma Saint John and Rachel Zoe during the Jan. 15 episode. “There was a moment at [Jennifer] Tilly’s—I’m hyper sensitive to it because I’ve heard it so much—this moment where [Kyle’s] like, ‘Well, we don’t know if he did or didn’t.’”

During the After Show, Dorit expanded on her friendship expectations further. “I don’t need you to bash PK. I’m not asking you. You don’t have to say, ‘F—k PK!’” Dorit explained. “If you want to? Great. If you don’t? I’m not asking you for that… That’s not what I need from you. And don’t confuse the two.”

Erika Jayne has advice for Kyle Richards in her friendship with PK

As a close friend of both Kyle’s and Dorit’s, Erika offered Kyle some advice during the Jan. 15 episode.

“I think [Dorit’s] overwhelmed, especially when you guys are just getting back to being sort of close,” Erika explained. “I think that maybe you just leave the whole PK thing alone. Like, don’t even talk about it.”

Erika warned Kyle to stop relaying any gossip to Mau. “Exactly what’s happening, which I thought was going to happen—which I don’t want to happen—you cannot get dragged into this,” Erika told her.

Kyle conceded to After Show producers that Erika was “absolutely right,” explaining, “It’s hard at times, because this topic does come up repeatedly, but I’ve already learned with Dorit that if she has an idea in her head, she is on that train, and it is not stopping.”

Kyle admitted that she’s actually taking Erika’s advice to heart: “I don’t want to talk about that with [Dorit] anymore. I don’t. I just want to move on.”

Don’t miss Dorit’s reveal on how she and PK each spent New Year’s Eve, as she hopes for “new beginnings.”
