Lala Kent Shares Details on Her Recent Health Scare

Lala Kent was convinced she “was gonna die” while in the throes of a “rare” medical crisis.

The Valley cast member recalled the health scare during a recent episode of her Untraditionally Lala podcast with her mom, Lisa Burningham, sitting in as a guest.

Lala Kent experienced a skin issue after her Hawaiian vacation

“You guys, OMG, I have to tell you guys a story,” she said in the January 14 broadcast. “So, I wake up one morning, and I look at my body, and there’s what looks to be little bites. It starts on my chest and on my back.”

Lala said she noticed the unsightly spots after returning home from her family’s Hawaiian vacation in late 2025. The Valley mom said she initially assumed she had “brought a sand mite home” from the Aloha State, so she immediately contacted her doctor for help.

“I’m like, ‘I need a prescription,’” she recalled. “I’m like having PTSD… I said, ‘I need a prescription. I am breaking out. It’s on my chest, it’s on my back.’ Throughout the day, it starts spreading.”

Lisa corroborated the story, saying the skin bumps looked “gnarly.”

Lala said the “itchy” spots began growing and multiplying at a rapid pace. She first noticed what she described as “boils” on a Saturday, and by Monday, the spots had spread all over her body, from her “neck to ankles.”

“Disgusting,” she continued. “Trigger warning: They were, like, oozing. I was like, ‘I am patient zero. What is going on?’”

Lala Kent says medical staff wore HAZMAT suits while treating her

Lala said she eventually went to the emergency room to get examined and rule out a serious condition. She recalled a hospital staffer entering her room with a HAZMAT suit, which, of course, fueled her concerns.

“No one will enter the room unless they’re fully covered,” she explained.

Doctors lanced one of the larger bumps on the back of her arm and sent the fluid in for testing. She was later informed that there was no bacterial infection, as many of her loved ones had suspected.

“Originally, people were like, it’s either chickenpox, monkey pox, staph infection,” the Vanderpump Rules alum said. “You know, you talk to your friends, and they come up with a plethora of all the things that are wrong with you. It came back as everything was negative.”

The hospital staff then encouraged Lala to see her dermatologist to get more answers.

“They were like, ‘We’re just here to make sure you’re not gonna die. You’re not gonna die,’” she recalled. “I thought I was gonna die.”

Lala was prescribed two steroid creams, an oral steroid, and an antibiotic. She said her dermatologist determined that the bumps were “consistent with what looked like a rare reaction to a bug bite.”

“I’m telling you I was scarred,” she said, before confirming the spots were all gone. “ I kept telling people, I’m like, ‘Yes, it’s great that I’m not gonna die. Got it.’ But, like, the vanity portion of it, I was like, ‘Oh my god.’”

That wasn’t the only health scare Lala experienced in 2025. Find out how the mother of two handled a pre-cancerous eye abnormality.
