3 tourists shot dead outside Florida rental home in random attack

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) — A man is facing murder charges in connection with the shooting deaths of three men, including two brothers.

On Jan. 17, officers responding to reports of a shooting found three men in front of a house, WESH reports. The victims were identified as Robert Luis Kraft, 70, his brother Douglas Joseph Kraft, 68, and James Puchan, 69. All had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities arrested Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, 29, and booked him into jail on three counts of murder, according to WESH.

CBS News reports the shootings took place in a subdivision near the Walt Disney World theme parks and that all three victims were tourists from Ohio and Michigan. They were reportedly stranded at their rental home at the time of the shooting because of car trouble. Douglas Kraft’s twin brother had also been traveling with the victims but had left the previous day.

Bojeh lives next door to the rental property where the victims were staying, according to CBS News. Deputies detained him at his home and recovered two firearms, but it is unclear if either was used in the shooting.

Sheriff Christopher Blackmon said Bojeh “was a threat to the neighborhood all the time. We had a lot of calls for service on this person in that area,” the Independent reports.

Bojeh has a criminal history that includes a shooting incident at a gas station, WESH reports. He was reportedly acquitted by reason of insanity when the case went to trial. Other past charges include non-violent crimes and drug arrests.

According to WFTV, probable cause was found to hold Bojeh on no bond at his first court appearance on Jan. 18.
