The bond between Southern Charm’s Austen Kroll and his younger sister of eight years, Katie Kroll, is as unbreakable as ever.
Recently, the founder of Trop Hop beer shared his excitement about his little sis turning the milestone age of 30, posting photos from a group getaway in Costa Rica. Highlights included heartwarming beach photos with their parents, Tom and Wendy; a childhood throwback of Katie holding Austen from behind; and shared laughter during Katie’s birthday celebration with all its tropical vibes.
“Here’s to 30 years of people thinking we’re a couple … a coupla siblins!” Austen joked in the Jan. 16 Instagram post. “Happy 30th Queennnnn.”
Around the time Austen shared an Instagram Story of Katie ready to blow out the candles of a large chocolate cake slice, Austen’s Charleston-based pals sent their best wishes, including Shep Rose and Southern Charm alum Landon Clements, plus Summer House’s Lindsay Hubbard.
Who is Austen’s sister, Katie Kroll?
Katie is Austen’s younger sister who has appeared as a guest on Southern Charm over the years, but away from cameras, she works in New York City as a brand and influencer marketing manager.
Many of her and Austen’s sweet moments take space on Katie’s public Instagram page, whether they’re whipping up fun Thanksgiving cocktails, traveling internationally, or Katie’s crying over Austen’s career-related feats. In 2019, Katie joined Austen on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen as a guest bartender at the clubhouse.
Still, it doesn’t mean that Katie doesn’t know how to give her brother a hearty dose of tough love now and then. As seen in Season 11, Episode 8, Katie showed up to offer advice about Austen’s unsteady relationship with his girlfriend, Audrey Pratt.
“You have been dating [for] a year and a half, and if you’re having hesitation of Audrey moving here, what is that telling you?” she asked. “To be honest, if you’re not gung-ho, then what are you?”

How Austen and Katie Kroll honored their late sister
During Katie’s visit on the Jan. 21 episode, she held Austen’s hand when the siblings got small matching tattoos paying tribute to Kyle, who tragically died at age 9 after falling off a cliff during a family hike. Austen, who was 7 at the time, was there when Kyle fell, something he has candidly discussed since joining Southern Charm in Season 4.
He shared more after he and Katie hit the tattoo parlor, where Austen had the years “1984” and “1996” inked onto his arm, representing the years his sisters were born. As he said in his confessional, “My sister Kyle passed away around 30 years ago at this point, and we just wanted to commemorate our sister.”
As for a silver lining from the heartbreaking event, Katie came into the world, “and we finally became the whole family again,” Austen exclusively told The Daily Dish in 2018.

“Katie wouldn’t be here without Kyle’s death, and that is a blessing that our family could never say otherwise about,” Austen continued in the recent episode.
He then joked, “Now I have my angel sister and my devil sister here with me.”
