Amid bubbling tensions, Reza Farahan finally reached his boiling point with Sky Askari during The Valley: Persian Style‘s Palm Spring cast getaway.

On the heels of his and Sky’s heated confrontation that played out in Season 1, Episode 5 (more on that below), Reza explained in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish that the drama was at least partly a result of them being in close quarters for too long.

“I mean, you know, Sky is Sky. I like to microdose Sky,” Reza quipped. “I can’t take her in long spans of time or long doses.”

As viewers learned earlier in the Bravo spinoff’s inaugural season, Reza had agreed to assist Sky in her potential house-hunting journey. The fine jewelry designer’s fixation on wealth — and her extreme distaste for living in the Valley — were among the things that rubbed him the wrong way, however.

“She’s just Bel Air, money, jewelry,” the Shahs of Sunset alum explained. “Like, girl, how many times are you gonna work Bel Air into a conversation? I’m a real estate agent. No one that’s buying a house in Bel Air talks about it the way that you do. It’s a little unbearable for me.”

Reza, meanwhile, insisted that him calling out Sky in Palm Springs was justified.

“There was like five or six very specific things that happened that led to me realizing like, oh, she’s not respectful of my career and my time, nor is she respectful of [Mercedeh Javid’s] career and her time,” he added. “And it’s about time that I say something.”

Reza Farahan and Sky Askari’s Palm Springs drama, explained

During the group’s backyard “Persian family feast” that Tanin Nikpey and Greg Haroutunian planned, the first signs of conflict sprung up while Reza was setting the table. “Reza, if you’re doing it, can you just do it right?” Sky asked him, questioning why the silverware was not “lined up” with the chairs.

In a confessional, Reza vented, “Why are you giving me s–t? I was not a waitress like you, so maybe I don’t know exactly where the utensils go. Just come and say, ‘Let me help you.’ You’re not my supervisor.”

Then, once dinner was eventually served, Sky immediately criticized the “chewy” meat that Greg prepared, prompting Reza to further tell a producer, “Spending the time I’m spending with Sky in Palm Springs is starting to grate on my nerves. Like, the complaining, ‘Is this organic?’ Why do you come off so condescending? She’s so stuck up and pretentious, you would think she was a member of the Persian royal family.”

Soon afterward, Sky began talking about how she wanted a “bigger house,” before griping some more about what Reza described as her “aversion to the Valley.” Eventually, he told her directly, “You would think that you grew up with a silver spoon in your mouth and a trust fund.”

Sky, for her part, contended that she was “not snobby at all,” and claimed that “best friend” Tanin could vouch for her. Having already become visibly annoyed, Reza used that comment as an opportunity to call out Sky for earlier drama involving her not reciprocating Tanin’s support for her business ventures.

As even more of the group entered the fray, Reza reached his limit. “I’m setting the f–king table, and she’s telling me, ‘Do it right!'” he fumed to his castmates. “No one talks to me like that, and I kept my f–king mouth shut. I didn’t say one word.”

How Golnesa Gharachedaghi got involved in Reza and Sky’s argument

Throughout the dustup, Golnesa had chimed in here and there, which wasn’t particularly surprising, giving her own on-and-off beef with Sky.

When Sky eventually told Reza that he needed “to shut the f–k up,” however, Golnesa really stepped in, shouting that she needed to “walk away” from the table.

Before Sky eventually made her episode-ending exit, she hurled several more insults at Golnesa, including her stating, “I will drop you like the napkins I clean my nose with.”
