Exotic dancer who fled country after allegedly decapitating boyfriend extradited from Mexico

ANAHEIM, Calif. (TCN) — A woman who fled the country after allegedly killing her boyfriend has been extradited from Mexico and charged with murder.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced that on Jan. 22, 23-year-old Alyssa Marie Lira was arrested in Mexico in connection with the death of her boyfriend, 55-year-old Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal. On Jan. 23, she was taken into custody at the San Ysidro Point of Entry into the United States and booked into jail on suspicion of murder.

On August 25, 2025, police officers conducting a welfare check at Lira’s residence found Gonzalez-Carbajal’s decapitated remains, KKTV reports. According to the outlet, he and Lira had begun dating about two months prior. The two had met while Lira was working as a dancer at a strip club, per KTLA.

Lira was identified as the suspect in Gonzalez-Carbajal’s death, but she had left the country. According to the DA, several agencies worked together to track Lira down and capture her in Mexico. She was charged with one felony count of murder and one felony enhancement of personally using a weapon.

Prosecutors have not disclosed a motive, KTLA reports, but they told the outlet they believe it was a case of domestic violence.

According to the DA, Lira is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 13 and is currently being held without bond. If she is convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison.
