West Virginia Man Uses, Axe, Gun, Feet to Try to Break Down Bedroom Door to Kill Wife – Crime Online

Authorities in West Virginia arrested a 77-year-old man for the attempted murder of his wife on Monday.

Police were called to the scene at about 4 a.m. by the wife, who told them she was locked in a bedroom while her husband, Warren Bruce Crowder, was using a axe to break the door down, WOWK reported.

Officers arrived on the scene and saw the victim through the window of the room where she was hiding — and Crowder attempting to kick the door in — a criminal complaint says, but Crowder refused to open the door.

Officers forced their way into the home and took Crowder into custody. He reportedly admitted that he had used a gun to shoot through the door in an attempt to get to his wife. Officers saw multiple gunshots to the door and shrapnel inside the locked bedroom.

He told police he “was angry, knowing that she was hiding 3 or 4 feet in front of the door in a bed.”

The wife said was was sitting on the bed, no more than 6 feet from the door.

According to WCHS, the couple had gotten into some kind of argument.

Crowder was charged with attempted murder and wanton endangerment. He was given a $50,000 cash-only bond.
