Man who traveled across several states to meet woman found dead in trash can

MARION, S.C. (TCN) — A 41-year-old woman has been charged after the body of a man was found in a trash can inside an abandoned house.

Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers said Jaida Braddy was charged with accessory after the fact of murder in the death of David Hutchinson, 32, WMBF reports

According to WMBF, Hutchinson was a barber who reportedly traveled from Massachusetts after speaking with a woman online who told him he would find a good-paying job in the area, Flowers said. His family reportedly had not heard from him since Dec. 29, 2025, and they contacted police when they became concerned.

On Jan. 12, the police department reportedly received a tip about a possible homicide and began an investigation. They eventually received another tip that led them to Hutchinson’s decomposing body in a trash can at an abandoned home, WMBF reports.

Braddy was charged as an accessory after the fact and was accused of pushing the trash can where Hutchinson’s body was found, WBTW reportsAccording to WFXB, she allegedly admitted to putting the trash can containing the body into the home. She is being held on $15,000 bond.

Hutchinson’s brother called him “naive and too trusting, but a good kid who made bad decisions at times, and this time he sadly had to pay the ultimate price for it,” WBTW reports.

Authorities have not released how Hutchinson died, although it is being investigated as a homicide. The autopsy results are pending, according to WBTW.
