Summer House’s Kyle Cooke is clearing up any misconceptions about the early days of his and Amanda Batula’s relationship.
The now-estranged yet cordial couple joined the rest of the Season 10 cast on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy to look back at their decade on the show. Responding to Dorinda Medley’s curiosity over how he and Amanda initially met, Kyle said, “Let’s set the record straight because there seems to be a lot of confusion on this.”
According to Kyle, Amanda was never “a booty call,” and the two had actually begun dating the summer before filming ever started. They stayed together for nine months after that, but Kyle ultimately broke things off due to having “cold feet.”
“Broke my heart,” Amanda lightheartedly added.
“Lo and behold, she was like, ‘Well, I didn’t want to freak you out, but I’m not going to the Jersey Shore this summer. My friends rented a house for all of July,’ and it was five minutes from the Season 1 house,” Kyle continued on the Jan. 27 episode. “We ran into each other, very serendipitously, the second weekend — this was post-hot tub with Steve Jobs,” a reference to when the Hamptons-based series had a crossover with Vanderpump Rules.
Ultimately, Kyle and Amanda “rekindled on the dance floor” and headed to the Summer House, unaware that cameras were already up and rolling. As Kyle said, “Then the rest was history.”

Kyle and Amanda jointly announced their split on Jan. 19 after four years of marriage. Their statement read: “After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple. We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing. It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we’ve always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter. Amanda & Kyle.”

Where do Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula stand now?
As Summer House Season 10 kicks off, both have described their ongoing relationship as “good.” In fact, elsewhere in their Radio Andy interview, Kyle reported things were better than expected. “I think every step we’ve taken, there’s a little bit of, like, a weight has been lifted,” he said. “And, ironically, I feel like this last week, having kind of pressed post together … it felt like we were a little more light. Lighthearted.”
