Suspect Cries Over Missing ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ as He’s Arrested for Killing Girlfriend – Crime Online

On Friday, an English court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his girlfriend last year.

On May 30, 2025, Robert Richens, 35, called police from his Oxford home to reveal he had killed Rachael Vaughan, 40. Thames Valley Police said Richens called not to get help for Vaughan, but because “he had nowhere else to turn,” according to the BBC.

“We had an argument. I think I just blacked out. I’m going to go to prison for life for this, aren’t I? I’m going to prison, 100 percent, aren’t I?” Richens said in the 911 call, per the Oxford Mail.

Footage from last year’s arrest showed Richens crying — not for killing Vaughan, but because he was going to miss “GTA,” or “Grand Theft Auto VI,” a widely anticipated video game which has been delayed over the years.

“Which GTA? What are you talking about, Robert?” an officer is heard asking before Richens refers to the video game.

An officer is heard telling Richens, “you have ages for that,” which is a possible quip about “Grand Theft Auto VI’s” repeated delays. The upcoming game’s predecessor, “Grand Theft Auto V,” was released in 2013.

“I’m gonna get life,” Richens says in the bodycam footage, which was played in court.

Investigating officer Det Ch Insp Stuart May decried Richens as “heartless” and said his life sentence means he will “now face the consequences of his merciless actions.”

“My thoughts remain with Rachael Vaughan’s family and with everyone who loved her as they continue to face what is an unimaginable loss,” he also said.
