A man died in downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning after reportedly butchering himself and severing his penis.
A spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department told KTAL that officers responded to reports of a man cutting himself at the intersection of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard, around 3:40 a.m.
Police closed the area off and set up a white tent to block the view of the bloody scene.
KTAL reported that a photographer with OnSceneTV was able to take graphic pictures of the man who “cut his penis off and bled to death.”
The photographs reportedly showed the man with a wound around the groin area.
The man reportedly mutilated himself by also slicing his throat, stabbing himself, and attempting to cut off his arm, according to what TMZ gathered from law enforcement sources.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased. It is unclear what he used to mutilate himself or why.
